SALTFORD STARS V FRY’S UNDER 7’S
(Game
1)
With all credit to our opponents
this was a real tough game for Saltford Stars, almost
from the whistle Fry’s had taken charge. It was no surprise when Fry’s took the
lead. Fry’s won a throw in that was thrown to Ryan Kibby. Ryan passed to Louis Heitzman who
passed forward to Vicky Foxwell, a Saltford player
tried to clear but the ball struck another defender and bounced towards their
goal putting Ashley Siddall
through. Saltfords keeper tried to clear but
luckily for us, his clearance hit Ashley
Siddall’s legs
and cannoned into the net. 1-0 to Fry’s.
Fry’s continued to
dominate throughout the first half but good defensive work by Saltford kept thwarting our chances time after time. Eventually though, Louis Heitzman managed to find a way through before half time
came. The ball was played square and Louis stepped inside his marker and placed the ball past the keeper
to make it 2-0 at half time.
H-T 2 - 0
The second half started
pretty much the same as the first. Then about 5 minutes into the half, Ashley Siddall
broke through only to be tripped just outside the area, Saltford
made their wall but it was all in vain as a scorcher of a free kick from Louis Heitzman
put Fry’s 3-0 up.
Saltford then started to make a fight of it with some good
runs and shots but with Matthew Notton and Jack Sheean in
fine form and some great keeping by Joshua Pocock there
seemed no way through for them. Ashley Siddall then added a 4th and a 5th
goal to complete his hatrick, both goals were the
results of confident passing amongst the team. Louis Heitzman and
Ryan Kibby respectively
playing the balls through.
Saltford did manage to get a goal towards the end which I
must say was a fine individual goal by the scorer. It was a good game for the Fry’s
supporters, and it was nice to see Saltford grab a consolation.

This game was a different
affair altogether. Saltford started the game with
only one thing on their minds “ATTACK” and it paid off for them as they opened
their scoring account first. Brandon
Clark made a fine save but the ball bounced kindly to a Saltford
player and he just tapped into the empty net.
With Saltford in
attack mode they almost doubled their lead but for a last second challenge by
The game then remained end
to end. Sometimes it appeared as though both sides had picked 5 forwards 1
defender and a keeper!
Just before half time, Amy Lacey managed
to win the ball out wide. Amy then
passed inside to Pheobe Jozefowic who
played it to Vicky Foxwell.
Vicky set
off like lightening towards their goal with only one thing on her mind “to
score” and to score she did. About ten yards from goal, Vicky unleashed a drive
that would have been worthy of someone twice her age. The keeper had no chance
and to be honest it was probably a good thing that he had a “chance” not to be
in the way, such was the power!
Half Time 2-1 Fry’s
In the second half, Saltford were again keen on attack only and yet again it paid
off for them as Saltford levelled with about ten
minutes left. We had been attacking ourselves only for a clearance to find one
of their players and with

Managers after game thoughts:
This was a good day to be
a manager. This was only our 7th game, and I feel we have come a
long way so quickly. This was our first double victory and when put together
with last weeks 1-1 & 3-2 victory makes us unbeaten in 4 games, not great,
but nice and going the right way. We are now starting to see a team rather than
individual players, the passing of the ball today was again awesome and
damaging. The players are getting a greater understanding of the importance of
finding space and always looking to pass instead of just kicking anywhere. The
kids deserve great credit for their hard work. WELL DONE ALL.
